Supergroup aka Superdy finance boss got his sums wrong, mistaking a ‘plus’ sign for a ‘minus’ wiped £175 million off their market value, we all make mistakes but that’s a big one.

When our team of evaluators are mystery shopping units, they’re not there catch staff making mistakes, we’d much rather catch them doing it right. We’ve discovered recognition is far more rewarding, rather then being put down – think ‘carrot and stick analogy’.

If you’d like to know if your team are doing things right when you’re not their, let us know and we’ll arrange a mystery shop in a unit of your choice. www.mysterycustomerevaluations.com

Apparently 99p stores don’t always represent good value for money as Ann Robinson from Watchdog pointed out. Could there be a gap in the market for 49p stores, buy 2 for 98p?

Watchdog investigated some of the bold claims made by this chain. Firstly, they confirmed with a call to one of their stores that they stand by that in-store promise; they were told that ‘we will not be beaten on price’ means that you can’t buy products purchased from 99p Stores, cheaper in anyone else’s store.

Mystery customer evaluations undertake covert price checks along with mystery shopper services, we’d be happy to show how regular mystery shopping of their stores can highlight these missed areas, and provide an online systemised platform to put it right.

When we think of mystery shopping, images of visiting high street shops tends to crop up! This is one of the main reasons why we called the company Mystery Customer Evaluations, as mystery shopping has now evolved into every service that customers come into contact with.

Take the recent watchdog investigation into British Gas and their home boiler engineers. Would you think these engineers could be evaluated? No. Think again, along with fitted kitchens / bedrooms and even double glazing salesmen, they all provide a service, even if it is in your own home.

Our team of mystery shoppers can evaluate these providers’ sales and service skills in their own home, whether it’s a written report or covert video evaluation, we can monitor and measure whether or not they’re doing and saying what they’re supposed too!

If you’d like to know how your team operate out in the field, let us know and we’ll set it up for you, regardless if it’s a high street shop or a customers house.

What’s worse than a customer who complains? One who doesn’t and just never comes back.

Every customer complaint is an opportunity for you to do better. In fact, it’s a challenge to do better to show that you listen and respond to your customers, and to regain trust and loyalty.

Sometimes the stress of any given day puts all of us in the wrong mind-set to hear this opportunity. We think, here comes another complaint. When really we should think, I’m going to learn about something were not doing well, which will aloe me the opportunity to fix it.

Whether complaints are about operational problems i.e. the service or product didn’t perform, or about customer service problems (staff not working correctly), they provide the sort of insights that keep companies strong so long as you act on them.

Mystery shopping is one way to find out whether or not this is happening, mystery customer evaluations can provide a mystery shopper that asks difficult questions, or challenges your staff to do things right. They then monitor what they done and how they done it.

Although every company should determine what level of service they would like to give their customers. It is the customer who actually determines what level of service has been delivered. Using Mystery Shoppers is the most effective way to measure this.

Mystery Shopping purposes.
Companies want to excel in the quality of service they offer their customers, because great service tends to result in happy and loyal customers. The most effective way to measure the service a company offers, is through the eyes and ears of a Mystery Shopper. They provide ‘first hand’ information of what’s actually happening from a customer’s perspective.

Training needs. Identifying weaknesses in customer sales and service delivery.
Compliance. Ensuring employees are complying with industry legal requirements.
Security. Ensuring employees are being honest when using the till and giving change etc.
Motivation. Identify employees who deserve a reward.

Mystery Shopping Advantages and Disadvantages.
There are more advantages, than disadvantages for companies that use Mystery Shoppers to evaluate their employees, the following are the most common.

Employee advantages.
Awareness of how to treat customers.
Sales and service levels improve.
Recognition for a job well done.
Impartial feedback from a third party.

Employee disadvantages.
Feeling of being spied on.
Not being aware what the company standards should be.
Management use the results to punish, rather than praise.
No action plan on what to do with the results.

Companies that commission Mystery Shopping.

Mystery shopper jobs are unique opportunities that can catch the eyes of many job hunters once they are aware of their existence. The tasks involved sound simple since you basically act as a normal shopper while you interact with staff and observe your surroundings for evaluation purposes. It also pays a bit better compared to other simple jobs and you can even try some mystery shopping online. Since you cannot really try mystery shopping on your own unless you form your own mystery shopping business, you have to find some companies offering mystery shopper jobs without getting sucked into any scams.

Job Directories

Job directories should be your first target because many of these sites have mystery shopping as a category where other companies can make ad postings to look for potential candidates that are fit for the job. Since these job directories get lots of Internet traffic, you have to check these sites often because any available jobs can be snatched by other job hunters before you know it. The good news is that most popular job directories have officials that track down scammers rather quickly.

Forums

Forums are less likely places to find mystery shopper jobs compared to job directories but you may find some better companies that way. Companies that are very serious in finding people to take on the mystery shopper roles will go beyond standard job directories and head to forums where interested applicants can interact better with the people offering the job. Since forums rely on the community, other members may be able to post some mystery shopper leads that you might be interested in. You just have to find those work at home forums or any forums that tackle mystery shopper subjects. These sites can also give you a better overview on what mystery shopping is and how to be good at it if you never tried mystery shopping before.

The whole business of mystery shopping can literally be shrouded in mystery because these special shoppers operate in such a way where you cannot identify them. This can leave you guessing how these mystery shoppers benefit your business if you decide to hire them. If you have done some in-depth research, you will know that these shoppers play a role in evaluating many aspects of your business, store, service, or ecosystem. Not all companies rely on this model as there are other working models for evaluation such as surveys. Here are some of the benefits of specifically choosing mystery shopping.

More Accurate Results

Surveys can be effective for the most part if you keep those survey forms short. Not everyone likes to fill up lengthy surveys or leave detailed opinions especially if they are not getting paid to do so. When you hire a mystery shopper, the shopper will take the role of an ordinary shopper so you don’t lose on the accuracy. At the same time, the shopper is compelled to get as much information as possible to meet your company’s demands for evaluation. These shoppers have the skills in interacting with others without revealing their identities. You also have full flexibility if you manage to find someone who is very skillful in mystery shopping. You can create and request certain scenarios to take place just to see how your workers would react in such a situation that could happen for real in the future.

Better Influence

Although you only get an opinion or evaluation of a single shopper, that opinion can count on a wider scale because good mystery shoppers are honest and can relate to the average customer so you can use the information to come up with future plans on what improvements or adjustments are needed.

Just about every store and service has its customers that come and go. Every customer has his or her first impressions on a particular service or the entire business proper and it is not always easy for these manager to know whether or not the majority of their customers are really enjoying the experience that they are providing. Getting customers to fill up surveys sometimes helps but the surveys not everyone is so compelled to fill up larger surveys. Hiring a mystery shopper is a much better solution because these special shoppers have some good qualities that can give you the evaluation that your establishment needs so you can make improvements. Here are some of the qualities that you should expect from a good mystery shopper.

Observant

A mystery shopper isn’t about carrying a notepad or some note taking device and writing down any findings. That takes out the “mystery” out of mystery shopping and once the mystery is gone, you won’t be able to do a proper evaluation just because others know that you are evaluating. Good mystery shoppers know how to keep a lot of things in mind so they can later fill up any assessment sheets in a private area.

Reliable

Good mystery shoppers are always aware on what the objective is and stay fully motivated to achieve the objective. This also means that you don’t rush even if it is possible to simply make up your own findings. A lot of honesty needs to come on your behalf so the companies can hire you to do future mystery shopping assignments.

Mystery shopping is an exciting job to get involved with because you are faced with new challenges as you tackle different companies and services. As you get more involved, your qualities improve and you help more companies at the same time.

Many individuals have their own personal dream jobs and many of them happen to be quite common but hard to obtain. In some cases, opening your mind to some of the more obscure jobs can be worthwhile. These jobs may not replace your dream jobs but they can serve as nice bridges that can make you some extra income. Take mystery shopping for instance which you probably won’t see much discussion of unless you check out the work at home forums and blogs.

Mystery shopping has a rather simple approach and it is somewhat related to filling up surveys for cash but the activities are more in-depth. There are companies and stores that wish to be honestly evaluated so they enlist the service of a mystery shopping company. Working for a mystery shopping company means that you will be assigned to a specific store where you assume the role as a regular shopper. Depending on the client’s demands, you may have to do a series of tasks or fabricate scenarios in order to test how the employees deal with their customers.

You are basically acting as a secret agent under the disguise of a shopper so the store has no idea that you are present specifically for evaluation purposes. You generally have to observe how courteous the employees are and how their normal day-to-day operations are carried out. Once you are finished with your session, you will submit the statistics that you acquired and let the company analyze and come up with the final conclusion while you get paid. Some of the mystery shopping companies may compare the results to other stores that the mystery shopper has been to. Mystery shopping is also popular in the web scene where the shoppers would go to a website and evaluate from there making this a decent work from home job.
